Who I am?

Hi, my name is Tetyana, but my friends often call me Tania. Currently I am studying Translation and Interpreting degree at the University of Castellon in Spain. Before studying Translation, I spent five years studying and working in Hospitality as cook and waiter. I really don’t know why I chose this profession, maybe at that time it was a good and interesting job.
Before studying cooking I didn’t know how to fry an egg. My first day in the kitchen was horrible. Each tool had its own name and color, for example: the catting boards were separated by different colors, so when you have to cut vegetables you can only use a green board, for fish, blue, etc. What a stupid thing, I thought. I can remember when we were cooking a broth and my teacher asked me to bring him a skimmer in order to skim the broth. I didn’t know what a skimmer and to skim were, so I thought that he needed a spoon to remove the broth. A Big Mistake! When I brought the spoon, my teacher got furious and started to tell me off. At first I wanted to leave this profession, but then I decided to try again; so I learned all the kitchen vocabulary and I began cooking at home.
After finishing I started to work in many restaurants as cook. It was then when I discovered the real side of this profession. The head chef was almost always unfriendly and vain and other cookers screaming all the time. I realized that cooking was a cruel world. However, after that, I still studied and worked in the kitchen for five years.

After five years in the “hell” I realized I wanted to get on with my studies. And here I am, almost graduated in Translation and Interpreting Degree.

Katy Renner, the girl who follows her dreams

Hello, I am Tetyana and I am going to introduce you my classmate Katy. Her mother is from England and her father is Austrian, but Katy was born in Luxemburg. An international girl! When she was five she moved with her family to Austria. She attended design school and worked as an interior designer for half a year. She didn’t like her work; she wanted to learn other cultures. Excited to discover the world, she went on nine months’ trip from South America to New York. In her free time Katy plays piano and guitar, and she loves horses.
